Prior to joining the College of Arts & Humanities at CSU Dominguez Hills, Dr. Arasimowicz served as the Founding Dean of Arts, Media and Communications, and a Professor of Music, at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. He is a composer and founding editor of the music journal ex tempore, serves nationally as a visiting team evaluator and as Officer of the Commission on Accreditation for the National Association of Schools of Music. As a composer he has undertaken site specific, community based, and concert arts projects. He has received fellowships and support from a wide range of foundations including the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition, Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard University, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Canada Council, and the American Composers Forum.
Dr. Arasimowicz earned his doctorate at the University of California, San Diego, and holds degrees from McGill University, the University of Toronto, and Carleton University, with certificates earned at the Chopin State Academy of Music (Warsaw, Poland) through the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, and the Royal Conservatory of Toronto.
