Debra Best received her M.A. and Ph.D. in English from the University of North Carolina and her B.A. in English from Pomona College. Her specialties are Medieval and Renaissance literature. Her research interests intertwine the study of Middle English romance, the medieval family, fifteenth-century responses to the Crusades, and the function of monsters in literary texts. She has published related articles on Frankenstein and several romances.
