Professor Zoerner earned his Ph.D. in Linguistics from UC Irvine. He teaches a wide range of linguistics classes at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. His research interests include formal syntax, language typology, and signed languages. He likes ribald rhymes, Night Train Express, and salty fried snack products--all at the same time. The insipid grin you see on the accompanying photograph results from the fact that he managed to outlive his term as department chair; he finds that his students understand his puckish wit and forgive his complete lack of fashion sense better than any administrators ever did. Take a class from him—he promises that you will like it!
