Student Academic Petitions and Appeals Committee (SAPAC) (filing a petition for exception)
Every now and again, an issue comes up for a student which might require an exception to some particular university policy. This may be accomplished by filing a "Petition for Exception" form.

For instance, a student may be trying to add or drop a course after a posted university deadline, attempting to change status in a course to credit/no credit after a posted university deadline, attempting to change a grade - with a professor's approval - after more than one semester, etc.

A petition for exception form may be obtained in each of the Dean's Offices, and there is a $10 processing fee for filing the petition, payable at the Cashier's Office. The petition, once paid, is then submitted to the Dean's Office, including any supporting documentation.

The Dean's Office forwards the petition to the Office of Admissions and Records where it is reviewed by SAPAC, a committee comprised of representatives from the student body, faculty and staff. Notification of decisions on petitions are sent directly to the student from Admissions and Records.
